Aloha Friday

When I think about Hawaii, the first thing that pops into my mind is the Hawaiian lei. I did a search and found this website http://www.hawaiianleicompany.com/default.aspx. I of course had to check it out and found the following information about the tradition. I hope you enjoy it!

This is a lei that I am considering purchasing and sending as a Christmas Gift to share the islands while I am there in December.

The Aloha Tradition
While a few ancient Hawaiian customs have faded from memory, the tradition of lei-giving has managed to subsist and flourish. In the beautiful islands of Hawaii, everyone wears leis. A lei is a common symbol of love, friendship, celebration, honor, or greeting. In other words, it is a symbol of Aloha. Take a walk around Hawaii; you’ll find leis everywhere—graduations, parties, dances, weddings, and yes, even at the office. In Hawaii, any occasion can be considered special and “lei-worthy.” No one can resist the vibrant colors, the intoxicating fragrances, or the beautiful tradition of Hawaii’s most recognized icon…the flower lei.
The History of the Lei - The custom of the flower lei was introduced to Hawaii from the various surrounding Polynesian islands and even Asia. In ancient Hawaii, wearing a lei represented wealth, royalty, and rank. Leis were also heavily associated with hula, religion and geography.
Most Hawaiians preferred the Maile lei--a leafy vine that has fragrant spicy-sweet leaves that is draped and worn open-ended to the waist. However, royalty and Hawaiian chieftains favored the fiery, vibrant Ilima—a thin orange blossom that requires hundreds of flowers to make a single lei strand. Hawaiian Princess Kaiulani’s favorite lei was the Pikake—named after the peacocks in her garden—for the heavenly white blossoms and sweet jasmine fragrance.
The state of Hawaii is consists of eight major islands. Each island has its own designated lei which represents a harmonious marriage of texture and color. Most of these leis are unavailable for shipping to the mainland due to strict agricultural laws.
Hawaii – Lehua
Oahu – Ilima
Maui – Lokelani
Kauai – Mokihana
Molokai – Kukui
Lanai – Kaunaoa
Niihau – Pupu
Kaho’olawe – Hinahina
Before the familiar hum of airline jets were heard in the sky, tourist and travelers arrived in Hawaii by boat. Many old Hawaiians retell their stories of “boat days” with fond memories. When the boat would arrive at the dock, it was a social celebration with lei greeters, hula dancers, music, and photographers. A common custom for departing travelers was to toss their leis into the ocean by Diamond Head Crater. A safe return to Hawaii was ensured if their lei drifted to shore.
Since May 1, 1928, Hawaii has celebrated every May first as it’s official “Lei Day.” Hawaiians call it “May Day.” The flower lei is celebrated passionately on May Day with Hula, parades, and music. On May Day, most parents request to take a day off of work so they can watch their children participate in May Day festivities and programs at school. Everyone in Hawaii is encouraged to wear a lei on May Day.
Lei Etiquette - Leis can be worn, received, or given for almost any occasion. In Hawaii, a lei is given for an office promotion, a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, or any special event. Yet more notably, a lei can be worn for no other reason than to enjoy the fragrance, take pleasure in the beautiful flowers, or simply, to celebrate the “Aloha Spirit.”

There is one big faux pas that should never be made. Never refuse a lei! Always graciously accept the lei with a toothy smile and a kiss on the cheek. (If you don’t feel comfortable with giving or receiving a kiss on the cheek, a warm hug is acceptable!) If you are allergic or sensitive to flowers, then discreetly and apologetically slip-off the lei. It is acceptable and considered a kind gesture to offer the lei to your spouse if you are unable to wear it.
Last, but not least, there is one more taboo…it is considered (in Hawaii) impolite to give a closed (tied) lei to a pregnant woman. Many Hawaiians feel that a closed lei around the neck is bad luck for the unborn child. (Head Hakus and open-ended leis are acceptable to give to pregnant woman.)
I think I'll sport a lei for May Day!

A revisit of sorts...

Here's a card I have made several different times for a few different events. It all started last August in getting ready for an swap at an Angel Gathering (WAG). I also made several of these for a new catalog swap with a group of Angel Stampers (Paperwings) and then I used the card for a make-n-take for my big Scrapbooking event in October - and still having some left over used them again for a make-n-take at another scrapbooking event in November...well, I am using them again for this swap...wow...that's a lot of info. This time the swap was for a spring themed card using bitty blossoms (white flower) so there it is...lol...

Stay tuned - more to come...remember it's Aloha Friday!

til then....

Moving Forward ONE NOTCH at a time

WOW...what a freakin' fantastic day.

Today is a day to be noted. I moved my car seat up one notch. YEAH ME! I, of course, had to call Becks, my first trainer and tell her (yes after I sent RICO a text message)...and the best...was when I got to work, there was an email from Becks....and it said

"Congrats on the results. I am SO, SO, SO proud of you. You have no idea. You always amaze me. You have one of the best attitudes of anyone I have ever met. Keep up the hard work. I know at times it gets difficult but its days like these that make it all worth it. Have a fantastic day and be proud of yourself. I sure am."

What a way to continue the day. So far, I have moved my seat up 3 notches since I started this journey 1 1/2 years ago!

WAHOO!

keep calm and carry on!

Movie Review Tuesday

Kicking off the first Movie Review of the blog – is the movie VANTAGE POINT Starring Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox.

Overall rating = 7
Entertainment Value = 10
Pay Full Price? Matinee or Rental

The movie is based on a terrorist event that takes place in Spain where 8 complete strangers see 8 different vantage points of the assassination of the President.

There were lots of plot twists, car chases, and explosions. Overall, the movie provided an entertaining evening, however, the rewinding of the scene to move to the next vantage point was somewhat frustrating, I just wanted to see what happened next.

The entertainment prior to the movie was priceless. MeMe and I met up to see the movie, and as we were sitting in the empty theatre, two men approached us and struck up a conversation. Both were very humorous…did you know you could use a sharpie to make grill marks on any item of food? The movie started late, so we were given a free small popcorn coupon on the way out. Yeah us!

No movie night is complete without going out to dinner. Dinner was had at Applebee’s on trade – gotta love that!

MeMe’s take on the movie? "The pre-movie entertainment was funny! Overall the movie was fine, nothing too much to say. Though it was nice to see Matthew Fox in a ‘bad guy’ role."

So there you have it folks……

And because this is the first Movie Review Tuesday…you, the blog reader, get a bonus movie review…Yeah YOU!

The next movie is NEXT starring Nicholas Cage, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Beal.

Overall Rating = 7
Entertainment Value = 9
Nicholas Cage Hotness = 10
RENTAL? YES

The movie is based upon a man being able to see into the future 2 minutes. Tho I was pretty much lost because I was just looking at Nick Cage tee hee, again, the movie premise was preventing a terrorist threat to Los Angeles. The movie was entertaining, short, and a definite RENTAL. Yeah Blockbuster!

AND A BIT OF TRIVIA….Who said the following phrase (actor name or character name, and what movie. Bonus points for character name and year of movie.
“You're on a need to know basis and you don't need to know”

That ends the first Tuesday Movie Review Blog posting.

Enjoy the show!
Remember – Be kind rewind, and turn your cell phones off.

Peace!

Portland Creative Weekend

Well, I'm back and well rested from my wonderful weekend in Portland attending the Creating Keepsakes Convention. It was good to get out of town, fantastic to take classes, and just be. I did a lot of thinking about things, some good, some bad and well just some. LOL. I had a couple of amazing conversations with Joe and all is good. I did something that I have NEVER done for myself on a trip....I completed a scrapbook. Of my weekend. YEAH me!!! WAHOO!!

So I'll try and recap the weekend with pictures for you all....I had a very nice drive down to Portland...it only took about 2 1/2 hours....and I arrived safely at my favorite budget motel...motel 6 - when I'm done with Rico, I'll totally upgrade...but for now...this is in my budget.

I checked in and went up to unwind and just veg before heading to check in and attend my first class. I could wait. It was the marble tile class - using Photo transferring....and here's the finished project. This was a fun class and I can't wait to make more and teach this class...

After my class, I headed out for a bite to eat...go subway....lol...a good ole friend...gotta love the daily special in a wrap. I got back to the motel, and just relaxed headed off to bed.

I of course got up super early, and went and hit the wannabe fitness center...okay it's a treadmill..and I did a bit - I also had brought my resistance tubing, so I did some presses and rows...and then it was time to hit the shower and get ready for the day.

And no "School Day" would be complete without breakfast from my favorite place...Elmer's...lol...SO I headed over and order BACON....they must of thought I was a total freak, as I didn't want the pancakes or hashbrowns and just wanted the bisquit and fruit..and of course, I had to ask how many pcs of bacon was involved, then I asked to have the cook put pepper on it....I know I know...high maintainence...lol...oh well...it was my treat bacon!!!
I then headed to the convention center...I love seeing the towers...I always know I'm close. Inside I always crack up at their GIANT ART...the Poppies, the pear...and of course Starbucks, I knew it was gonna be awesome....

My first class was taught by Ali Edwards...it was her Top 10 favorite things...it was really good...lots of good information and great goodie bag filled with all of her 10 favorite things.

My next class was Not your everyday clipboard...now I've seen clipboards made, but haven't ever done one, so I thought I would take the class for fun...cuz this weekend was all about learning and FUN...I really liked the class...and it was fun, I'll have to make more!!

I had a break inbetween classes and did a little shopping, and walking around...and then my last class...Clearly Visible Album...it was an acrylic scrapbook. Now normally when I take a class like this, I just do the project and leave it empty always saying I'll finish it....well not this time...My Acrylic Scrapbook is completed with pictures from this trip and a little journaling...YEAH ME!!!

One of the highlights of my weekend, was running into a few friends...I got to see DL a couple times..yeah and a few others....which made it a fantastic trip...I did meet some new friends, which is always the reason I love what I do.

til later.... peace!

Oh what a week....

So the week was good. My boss was out of town. Sweet. Got lots done at the office, not as much as I wanted to...but still...a good amount. Had some awesome workouts...thank you Rico...even tho you killed me a few times....Brad and I carpooled a couple of times...sweet...and it was just an overall great week. Not too many crazy things happened. Just nice. The way it should be. The card I am showing you here is one I made for a swap with other angels. I can't wait to get the swap back....more samples for Scrappin Friendzy!

I do have a bit of interesting news....I went on a date. It was a very casual date...but a date nonetheless. It was fabu! I will say that there will be another date soon...when I get back from Portland. Oh yes, I am going to Portland. Love how I'm trying to avoid telling all the 411 on the date? tee hee....Well, let's just say this Billy Joe Bob Fred (those of you who know me really well know that name) tee hee (if you don't - just ask!) is a wonderful, interesting person with lots of potential. And a smile that fills the room...and for DIVA...nope...no earring...no diamond don's here!!! LOL!!! And I realized I didn't tell RICO...what? I know...I need to ...that will give me something to tell him on Wednesday and to see if he is actually reading this....snort! Well I odda....lol....anyways....

Back to Portland...I'm heading on my annual trip down to the scrapbook convention and taking a couple of classes. I'm very excited about them and can't wait....and I also got some good news, it looks like I will be teaching for the local scrapbook store...I"m going to be talking with them after I get back as well...so that should be lots of fun!!!
Anyways....So here's to a great week and lots of inspiration!!!

peace!

Sending you a little love....

Awe, so the week continued...Wednesday was a get kicked in the butt session with Rico...like hello...when aren't they? The sad thing is, I always thank him afterwards and sometimes ask for more? What is with that? LOL.

And YES I SURVIVED THE DREADED DAY unharmed of course...lol...I made myself a killer dinner and just relaxed...took a bubble bath listened to some music and lit a few candles...very peaceful.

Friday...back at it again...I made Rico's girlfriend a bracelet for him to give her for Valentine's Day...and well she loved it...sweet! And Friday was a freakin fantastic day....No boss, Cindy, Taylor and I were going to lunch and then an appointment with Sally! YEAH! Tons of fun was had and then the weekend....

I was on a mission to go to Pike's Place Market...but for whatever reason...that didn't happen, well it sorta did...Okay so here's the story....I got up and was busy doing stuff around the apartment building...you all know that pesky managers stuff and before I knew it was like 11ish...by the time I got cleaned up, and ready to head downtown and then I approached the market - tons of people....and I totally couldn't find a parking place and there was a ton of people, okay I know I already said that...lol...SO then I decided to head home and try again another weekend...

I stopped at the Central Market and purchased some stuff...to make a new chicken noodle soup...with ground chicken meatballs and cheese filled tortellinis - the soup turned out fabulous!!! So the weekend turned out pretty good.

peace

Apparently, he will...

Heather laughed when she saw this picture of Rico and promptly said, "Rico will do just about anything for you won't he?" Well, if this picture is of any proof...Yes! Gotta love that!
Ignore the date, apparently I can't replace the batteries correctly to reflect the correct date!

Go RICO Go!

To Teff or Not?

Where did the time go? I know…I totally got my butt kicked by RICO…lol….My trifecta workout (wed, thurs, fri) totally killed me. I got to the Villa on Friday, made dinner and totally crashed!!! Slept sooo good….must be that Mercedes of a bed….had a pretty busy Saturday, did a few things at the villa, then headed out for some errands for the apt building, and then home. Got a ton of stuff done…who knew? But the unfortunate thing was the weekend just flew by. What? Where did it go?

The week at work started out well, you know – normal…I was traveling back and forth between work, the villa and home. But it was good, made the time go by fast. I had a cooking class on Monday night. It was a total blast. It was sponsored by Swedish Hospital and the Joslin Diabetes Center. It was really interesting. It focused on refreshing your knowledge of portion size, carbs, healthy sugars and using different things to get more flavor our of your food. I really like how they incorporated simple things into your meals like zest for instance and different spices. They made some interesting things…Chicken with a yogurt sauce which was really good, they made crispy sweet potato and beet chips (yummy) chai tea, and then some chocolate pudding with raspberry made from Teff….It was like eating chocolate grits....yeah not for me…but the hit was the date bon bons…I’ll have to make those one time…very good…and not to horrible calorie/carb wise.

Tuesday finally arrived, I made it through the day and then it was time to see Dr W. Boy was I nervous. I knew my blood sugar was about the same, but I didn’t know what the proteins would be. WOWZA…amazing…great appointment and the proteins dropped HUGE…now I’m only 13 points above normal….WAHOO…now just to keep it there. A huge relief – now I can just Keep Calm and Carry On….lol…

Murphy HATES Me...

Tuesday, the morning of fasting, holding it and testing….I felt really good when I woke up, I got ready and headed out the door to head to the lab. Of course, Murphy was not too far behind me today…lol….as I got onto the road…it was raining, windy and traffic at a snails pace. Great. I had my trusty liter of cold water to drink on the way. For whatever reason, I have an issue when it’s time to do the deed…you know…pee into the cup. Apparently, I can’t pee under pressure, so I always drink lots of water on the way to the lab, and of course, when I get there…I am so ready, okay beyond ready to burst. So picture this…Me, being diabetic and fasting, having to hold it, drinking lots of water, getting stuck in 1-90 traffic and being anemic. Fun times….lol.

I finally make it to the lab. And I walk in and check in. They come and get me and ask for my insurance card. I pull it out and hand it to the gal…she scans it and then proceeds to say…”You owe $4.50…I can’t test you til you’ve paid this.” Now mind you, I just got the bill in the mail the night before…ugh…I said sure, here’s five bucks…”oh I can’t take cash”, I reply check? She says ”no, sorry”…I replied…Visa Debit card??? She says “Yes”. Whew…so I give her my card and she scans it in and I have to sign like 29 pieces of paper…snort…

She then says…”Okay take a seat”, I sit down, ready to really burst at this point…the vampire draws 3 viles of blood and then says “Okay you’re done.” I’m like, What? What about the micro albumin test? She replies “It’s not marked on your chart, are you sure you are supposed to do that?” I’m like, yeah hello…I don’t sit in the car for over an hour, having to pee and drinking more water for my health…She then says, “I need to get the dr’s okay.” So she goes over to Dr W’s office as I’m trying really hard not to lose it and then comes back saying “They can’t approve it, you already did one in December.”

What the FRENCH toast….I head over to Dr W’s office (the other side of the lab) and say, Dr K wants me to have this done each and every time I do the other testing…she replies, “Well Dr W isn’t here, so if that’s the case, Dr K will have to okay it….”
At this point, my sample is almost ready to be all over the floor. I turn to the lab gal hand her my phone with Dr K’s number already ringing, and I say, give me a cup…I need to do this NOW. She replies…”I can’t till the order is given.” I tell her, just give me the cup, I’ll pay for the cup, you’ve already got my visa, what’s the cup cost, $2 bucks? So she hands the cup over and proceeds to wait for Dr K’s office to answer….I happily go do my thing…and as I am finishing…the lab gals yells through the door…it’s approved….ugh..the things one must go through….

I head to the office, feeling pretty out of it, and needing fuel…needing juice, needing food…and to just sit down…the day turned out pretty good. Heather came over for lunch and we just sat and chatted about stuff, stamping, Rico, stamping…crazy people, exercise…fun fun times…

I headed home….and got ready for my triple shot of workouts with RICO…Wed, Thurs and Friday….

Here we go again...

WOW...the last few days have just flown on by...like a winter storm watch. Friday was one of those days...it ended up okay Heather and I had been emailing back and forth all day. She was having a stamping get together on Saturday and she realized that she needed a few things...so the list was sent back and forth all day...lol, by the time I left work, I had a list of things to pick up and or take to Heathers and I needed to get a few things too...The list included not only bringing me, but Rico too...lol...I did all the errands and headed home with a bunch of fruit to make salad for Heather's party. The evening turned out rather uneventful and I actually got some rest.

Saturday arrived way too early....I got ready and got everything loaded...and then I hit the road...I decided to stop on the way at Joann's and grab some easter grass and eggs. I finally made it down the 169 to MV...baby!!! And what fun we had. It's always fun getting together with the gals at Heather's. Jessica brought Brandon, Heather's kids Chloe and Broken (aka Evan) were there. We had such fun...lots of laughs, stamping, fun times...and good fruit salad and other goodies!!! I had a lot of fun teaching Chloe how to snap her fingers, how to wink and flick...Poor broken....he replied to me...I'm not broken anymore...then I told him all about my nephew Danen aka LP/Little Pumpkin and said well I could give you a nickname like that...he replied...no Broken's okay. Chloe kept saying to me...You're funney...hummm not sure that's the crowd I'm looking for you know the 4-15 age group...but maybe if one's got a cute single dad that might be my ticket in...lol....too much fun...I couldn't believe how fast the day was going...the next thing I knew it was 4pm....what??? Where did the day go??? We did make some pretty cute Easter things...I'll post those later....and just think...the day wasn't over yet....
As I was leaving...I called my buddy to go see a movie....National Treasure...Book of Secrets...yeah Nick Cage. My buddy works at the theatre and left me a pass...yeah!!! I got there a bit early so I headed to get some dinner....perhaps a mistake. As I got sooo sick around 2am - UGH!!!! Anyways...the movie was wonderful....and I got home around 10pm....and hit the sack...only to be awoken with a very upset tummy....ugh for about 5 hours I was up and down...and not liking life....I finally got to sleep around 7am. I woke again about 11 and called "the rents" and bailed out of visiting...I didn't even go to church...ugh...I suck! Anyways...I chilled most of the day...and finally around 8pm started to feel better.

Monday was a freaky day. No workout....still had to lay low...don't like laying low....Wednesday is gonna be a tough workout....ugh....made it through the day and headed home....took it pretty easy still as I had all my labs to do Tuesday morning....

peace...more later...

Headed down to Renton for the party for baby Emily. TOTALLY had a blast...then I headed home, got stuff ready for the dinner party and headed out...up to Ronda and Jared's...it was a fantastic time. I prepared a huge spinach/mushroom/onion salad and a big loaf of garlic bread and then sweet Grandma's cheesy bread. The seating arrangement was interesting. I ended up sitting next to Dave. Now Dave's a great guy...and a good sport...and I proclaimed at the beginning of dinner that Dave would be my designated Significant Other for the evening...lol...and he totally played the part...lots of laughs and good times. The kids were a riot..and the food, fellowship was a great time. Got home rather late...

When I was leaving for church there was a note on my car from "V" great...sweet....I read it, and promptly crumpled it up and left it on the garage floor...incase he came back. *snort* I know what a witch...oh well...it felt good! LOL!

Monday and Tuesday B-rad and I pooled...totally fun - we had a bit of snow...but nothing big..it was more fun listening to the newscasters and their WINTER STORM WATCH 08...lol... Let's see what else fun happened? Oh yeah...Heather and I went to dinner at Applebee's and saw 27 Dresses...totally fun time!!! I made my own very strong lemonade at Applebee's so strong that I needed some Splenda...lol....it was pretty funny....Let's see what else...oh I've been slammed at work, the owners came in...and what else....hummm oh yea...I get to be a meanie tonight...

Da Da Duh....I have to deliver rent increases....ugh...not looking forward to the fallout of that...oh well...Oh yeah...Friday is my last low key workout...yeah....

It's a trainwreck...

SO I'm not sure which I'm more freaked out about or distrubed by...

A - the fact that my ex-husband called
B - the fact that the ringtone didn't sound
C- that I answered the phone
D - the fact that he proceeded to tell me that he just started seeing this chick this week, and as they were getting up this morning he thinks that her sister is this other chick he's been seeing on and off again for over a year
E - the fact that he told me he hadn't had a real connection like that since me
F - the fact that I didn't hang up
G - the last but most important - the fact that "V" is coming to town this weekend and wants to see me

I want (a smoke, a stiff drink, chocolate...) something NOW.

UGH.

What the french toast? Off to get more WATER!

The Good, the Bad, the Shots?

Because…YOU asked

So you all know I’m about caring and sharing right? Well, I was on the phone this morning discussing the fact that I was getting my last series of synvisc shots today and the question was posed…You are gonna take a picture right? I wanna see. I was like – Really? So I thought about it and realized if I’m gonna ever really document this journey of mine, I need the good, the bad and the shots? Eh..Ugly. So here you go…The pictures are in the next post below this...I wanted to send out a public service announcement for the weak of heart or needles...lol!

The first image is of my prepped knee, the second, shot number one to numb away…and the third…the synvisc or as I refer to it WD-40 for the knees. Mind you this is only one knee...I've been having this done to both of my knees and it is a three week series...one per knee per week for three weeks....special eh? lol...

I had a great fantastic visit with Dr. Mike…like duh? And I just love how Dr. Mike gets me ready…he always says…You’re are gonna feel a poke, a burn, and then fullness…and then he says…poke….burn….filling up…he’s sooo funny! Anyways…I told him about going up the stairs like a normal person yesterday 2xs boy was I excited…and he says…hey now…take it easy…no marathon’s yet…lol…

SO here’s to frozen peas…and no pain!

peace

Because YOU asked....

Beware - it's a full moon....

Monday – freakin early. I headed to Rico’s studio. It was dark very dark. Full moon. Very very cold. Freakin early.

He was just about to walk inside when I pulled up…he waited for me. We get inside…it’s actually warmer inside than outside. Still freakin cold. Freakin early. He starts messing with the computer/stereo. We chit chat. And then we hear. The. Car. Alarm. Sound. Off. What the? Rico says…it only goes off if someone opens the door. Son of a Freakin scared now. We head towards the main door. WE. Hear. Another. Alarm. Going. Off. What the? As we open the door (stupid move) his car is going off. He kills the alarm. No one in sight…we notice the alarm for the building across the street is going off. Weird. Freaky. The good ole Seattle PD pull up and drive towards the other building. The gate is locked so they just turn around? Huh? The Alarm is still BLARING….as we head inside I as Rico if he could lock us inside. And he does. Whew…still not feeling too safe right then.

We decide to work out with NO music so we can hear any noises. We hear someone trying to open the door (maybe the police?) Don’t know – they didn’t bang on the door…so we didn’t check it out. Too scared. So we continued to work out. Everytime we heard a noise, we stopped and debated about it…lol. RICO when to get a metal rod (his weapon of choice?) and the tennis ball?? Okay….guess that works..lol!!! Anyways…we ended up talking about Dexter of all things….lol…the Showtime show that is about a serial killer who kills serial killers? It’s gonna be on CBS in February…see what happens when all the writers go on strike? Why can’t they bring back the oldie but goodies…the Love Boat, Chips, Magnum PI? Lol….oh well. Anyways…we finished up, he walked me out and down to the car…and off I headed home.

The best thing of the morning…I was actually able to go up the stairs like a normal person today. My left knee didn’t buckle, and I made it up all the way without stopping, or it giving out…YEAH!!!!!!!

Anyways…let’s chalk it up to the full moon…a workout studio in a previously old abandoned building and a holiday that I have to work…lol.

ACHIEVE!

The weekend in a nutshell...

Here it is Monday…a holiday and where am I? At work…as always…no holidays til the end of May…man do I miss working for lawyers on days like today.

The weekend was very good. After leaving work on Friday, I headed and got the fruit for the salad I was gonna make for the candle/stamping party and headed home. Had a nice relaxing evening…unwinding and watching a little bit of tv.

Saturday arrived way too early. I got up and started to make the fruit salad….man oh man did it smell wonderful. I finished getting ready and headed out to meet DIVA #1 (That would be Miss Helen) for breakfast at our favorite place Sweet Additions. Got there a few minutes late, but the breakfast and the company were fantastic. We chatted, caught up on all the good gossip of the day…and then it was time to head out to Jessica’s…down the 169 to MV..lol…

As usual, I passed Jessica’s house, I always do…it’s too funny…as I drive past it, I always say…”Isn’t that Jessica’s?” I turned around and proceeded to go inside. Jessica got a new puppy named Jack…way to cute…white and black mini austrailian Shepard…I might actually get attached to this puppy. I was bummed out as Brandon her son, wasn’t there…he’s such a sweetie…oh well….everyone started to show up and then it was time for the candle party. I ended up purchasing some candles…as I have made a promise to light them more…to relax…attaining peace….so this was my GO to do it. Everyone finished with the candles, and then it was time for a little bit of stamping. While Heather was setting up, everyone went to get a bit of lunch…the fruit salad was a HIT! Sweet! Gotta love that!

We made two really cute projects, this love card and a matching bag to put goodies in…LOVE THEM! I never use this paper and I have a ton of it…okay a couple of packs left…I gave away my retired ones for prizes at Scrappin Friendzy last time. Must did out this paper…make card…lol…

Anyways, I headed home…and just kicked it. Really didn’t do much. Made dinner and just enjoyed “being at home”, before bed, I placed a bag of lentils in a pot with lots of water to soak overnight…my Sunday project…lol. Sunday I woke up and wasn’t feeling to snazzy, so I didn’t go to church – I was torn about going…but I thought I was coming down with a cold or something…so I decided with my last shot on Tuesday, that I better lay low…I made a lentil, leek, mushroom, ground turkey soup. Not too bad for the first time – not sure if I’m a lentil fan or not, but Sally (my nutritionist) wants me to incorporate more beans into my diet – okay so I’ve done it…this week anyways…lol.

So the rest of the day/evening was relaxing, I did go out for a bit and got a couple of things at the store…but boy was it getting cold outside…and it’s supposed to be cold this whole week….glad I got my new jean jacket!

Anyways….here’s the projects we did at Jessica’s….enjoy!

Feliz Cumpleanos

Today at work we celebrated the birthdays of Alan and Steve...we headed down to Teroros - everyone had lots of fun....and of course...the bday boys had to wear somberos! Ole!

adios!

So Happy It's Thursday!

WOW…where did the week go?

Yesterday was workout day with RICO – but we videotaped. Man do I talk a lot…lol…I think it went okay? Who knows? I sure don’t.

Last night was a typical boring night – didn’t do anything too exciting…shame on me. I watched stupid stuff on tv – it’s like a train wreck…you just can’t turn away…and I don’t really remember what I watched. UGH…

This morning BeeRad and I pooled. YEAH! We left early so we could hit the gym at the office. Had a pretty good workout. Boy am I spoiled by RICO. I had to get my own stuff…lol…I did a pretty good job by myself I think. Got ready for work and here we are. I tried the exercise bike…it was okay…it hurt my knees tho…BUT I’ll try it again. Anyways we have a lunch today…so I’m looking forward to that…

More later…

GO!

OH....we're off to see the Dr. the wonderful doc of knees....

LOL.....Lookie it's Dr. Mike!!!

Today was my second series of Simvisk injections in both of my knees. And after last week's hideous display of ignorance by the surgeon, I was definately looking forward to seeing Dr. Mike. Dr. Mike RAWKZ! Totally he does. He is such a great doc!!!
Anyways, the appointment went great...we chatted, and discussed what happened last week. And we talked about future stuff with my knees and what to do and how to do it...and to keep on moving forward.

I brought my camera to take a picture of my knee(s) getting injected, but thought that might be too much for you all...or for me to try and take a picture while I'm trying to relax and breathe and stay still...lol....I did convince Dr. Mike to let me take a picture of him....but he said he had to approve it first...lol...so I definately took advantage of it!!!

Next week is the last series of this round.....whew....now to just hang in there and get through the next couple of weeks....and here's to hoping it lasts a year!!!!

Tomorrow is video day...wonder if I'm ready for it. Time will tell...

till then......

GO!!!

Oh the weather outside is frightful....

Let it snow let it snow…
It rained/snowed last night and then this morning everything was either icy or snowy or both. It definitely was COLD. It took 1 1/2 hours to get to work. Everyone drove slowly no one was in a hurry no accidents on the way thank goodness. Here’s not only a picture but a card….a double shot of sorts...more later after I see Dr. Mike and get my second series of Simvisk shots in my knees.

peace.

Can’t Stop…Won’t Stop…

This weekend was good. Went by too fast. I did do a bit of relaxing, a bit of clean up and I did do some stamping. I went to church on Sunday, and up to the “rents”. I fell asleep sorta early, and then woke up way too early….ugh 4am. Sorta feeling that now.

Today was a challenge with working out and my knees. Rico and I started a semi-hardkore workout and after 4 rounds….I was done. My knees hurt like they were being hit with a hammer. I know it will be better in time. But right now it’s hard. It was disappointing, I felt like I not only let myself down, but I let him down as well. Rico is so amazing at times. He just fixed it. Got me on a bench and grabbed the monster resistance tube and some dumbbells. And we rocked it…then we headed over to the over side to do some diagonal crunches with the yellow sun (10lb medicine ball). I got a good workout…I know I will be back and even better…but it’s frustrating right now and tomorrow is shot day. I think I’m gonna take my camera and take a picture of doctor Mike. Should make for some interesting viewpoint to say the least.

I got lots of packages at work today. I had ordered a couple of items of clothing last week and they arrived. I can’t wait to try them all on. I am wearing the jean jacket right now, I probably could have gone a size smaller…but it’s gonna get cold…might need to layer and then wash and dry it will shrink…anyways…it’s comfortable and a medium weight so it’s perfect in my eyes.

Here’s to getting through all the rough spots of the day. All the pain on/in my knees…and to the fact that no matter what…Can’t Stop…Won’t Stop.

And the walls come crumbling down…

This morning started out much like a normal Friday morning, a butt kicking by Rico…go home and get ready for work….but today was different. It did start at Rico’s studio, but not so much of a butt kickin’ just maintenance stuff. My knees still are hurting, but getting better each day. I’m sure by the time Monday rolls on by, they will be fine, just in time to get injected once again. (Breathe, remember to Breathe – I’ve had to tell myself quite a bit this week).

Rico and I talked about “the video” today. It looks like Wednesday is the day to record. I have been reflecting a lot lately and have been trying to put “stuff” down on paper so I at least know what I’m talking about. I switched a couple of appointments around, but I rescheduled them….no missed workouts here! I’m actually quite proud of that…the only time I actually cancelled was when I was really sick and when I had to work out with “Skippy over there” at FT.

As I was on my way to work, I was stopped as usual at the light at the end of the street. As I looked across I realized that the QFC is gone and construction has really begun. I thought about the first time I went into that QFC, 20 years ago and how my life has really changed. I remember really walking back then. To the store, to work, to the park, to the locks, through downtown Ballard, downtown Seattle, the Aquarium, the Zoo…and so on. I can’t remember the last time I did any of that in the last 5 years.

So the walls are crumbling down. The unhealthy me is crumbling and being replaced by the healthier, thinner, more active me. It’s almost like I am starting over again, but instead of a clean slate, it’s one that has to be worked at, maintained, formed, loved. It is often said that if you don’t love yourself, you aren’t ready to really love anyone truly, madly or deeply. And I believe that. I had discovered the last year that I really like me, for who I am, not what I think everyone wants me to be and there is a big difference in that. I actually am now loving myself. I am nurturing my mind, body and soul. It has been an interesting, challenging and a hard path to stay on…but as Rico says…”Can’t Stop…Won’t Stop.

Here’s to breaking through the crumbling walls.

Go.

Meet Emmy....

My dear friend Cyn and her husband Rich had their first baby Emily the end of December. Here's a picture of the baby announcement card that Cyn and I made last November. The inside also has the "info" about Emmy printed on vellum and attached with gold photo corners...We made about 40 of these I think...I don't remember it was so long ago...

The card is made of DCWV MatchMaker's paper Pink #1, #3 and the hearts cuttlebug embossing folder, stamped with Palette Noir ink, gold ink, using the Giga Scallop circle punch, and the Mega circle punch and pink with white polka dot ribbon. The little girl character stamp, not sure where that is from, but the Chinese character was custom made by Digital Princess Designs - hi Alana! in Canada...(side bar - ooh Canada...sorry....saw the cute canadian this morning...while I was waiting for "B" to pick me up....what a great way to start the morning...*snort*)

So it's been a rough couple of days. My knees are still sore and bruised. I've been one with the bag of frozen peas at home. UGH. I did have a good workout with Rico...and video taping should happen next week, I'll let you all know when...and I went to a seminar at Swedish Hospital in Issaquah last night about joint replacement. Talked to a wonderful surgeon and am feeling much better about my future outcome with my knees and much more informed that I was the other day...so here's to a great day! We got our list of holidays this year...only 8 days off...but hey, it's 8 days off....they are in the calendar, and I've requested my first 2 days off for CKC in PDX....wahoo!!!

peace...and I'm so grateful for frozen peas!!!

Finally...

Today was a day I have been waiting for - finally the injections in my knees - or the first one at least.

When I woke up they were talking about snow...but I looked outside and just rain in ballard...whew...I got ready and was out the door and heading to Issaquah to Dr. Mike's office 6:30am...eeeks....as I was driving, I wondered if there was snow there...as at times there is...
It was still dark when I arrived and no snow...whew...and then it was time. I met my new dr (dr. mike's boss) okay don't like him....totally offended me....and if you know me you know how hard that is to do...hello - Dutch Harbor - AK - Fishermen...lol...seen it, heard it, or done it..lol...

Anyways...got my shots and it is not a pleasant thing, feels weird, feels tingly, feels like pressure...I got into the card and headed to work, and as I was getting ready to hit the freeway, I saw a scattering of snow in the mountains...so I took a picture....enjoy....more to come

Monday

Monday monday monday....what a day....

I got up and headed to RICO's and I gave him all my homework...and we talked about it a bit...and then...the butt kicking commenced. LOL....we did the 4/15/10 (4 exercises, 15 reps, 10 sets) and he put a twist in my crunches/situps...diagonal...with a 12 lbs medicine ball..son of a....lol...anyways...I made it through and then it got interesting....I got in the car and then I started to feel...well not so good....

I pulled the car over...and then I hurled...son of a gun....and then the nice military guy that walks down to the armory stopped "You okay ma'am?" I said yeah, my trainer kicked my butt, then I hurled again (and fyi - luna bars and water not a good combo) then he said "are you sure you are okay?" I told him, yes, I was and that my bro who's a lt col would tell me it was good for me...he just chuckled, and replied "Those Lt. Col's they are all talk and no action" too funny!

I took it easy the rest of the day got to work a bit late..but heck why not...and then the day went pretty quick...and then it was time....

to meet MEME....for the movie premiere...THE BUCKET LIST....what a great movie! I highly recommend it....lots of good laughs and a very touching story!

I headed home...and hit the sack.....

GOAL PICTURE

The other day RICO asked me if I was visualizing my goal picture of what I wanted to look like when all is said and done. I told him NOPE...can't see that far ahead....he asked me where I saw myself when we are done...I said when I was a Senior in high school....he told me to bring in a few pictures....so homework assigned.

When I was getting ready to leave the "Rents" on Sunday I mentioned my homework to Pops, he comes out with a big box of pics....so here's a flashback for you....me in high school, getting ready for senior tea...homework completed....and in case any of you are wondering...yes I am still journaling, and I gave RICO my journal for last week on Monday....yeah me!!!

Weekend Update

WOW...it's already Tuesday so I'll try my best and "RECAP" the weekend. Friday continued to be a great day. I went home and totally relaxed. I ended up watching "CARS" too cute of a movie.

I stopped at the office to do a quick task, then I headed to Target, found a really cute and really cheap playground ball with TIGGER on it for my PT exercises...yeah! And I found these really cool Military Ribbon Christmas Ornaments that were on clearance for a $1.49 so I bought the last two...one for the "Rents" and one for me....gotta support our troops! I made an awesome chicken ceasar salad and settled in and watched two movies, "Working Girl" and "Jurassic Park" it seems like a lifetime ago that I begged the EX to take me to that movie....we had such a great day - wish it could have lasted....anyways....I made 2 baby congrats cards for Ronda and Lydia...I need to make one for Cyn....so I'll post that one...

Sunday got up and got ready for church...it was a great service, all the kids were there and the babies...so cute so litte so precious. I was lucky and not only got a hug from Aaron but also a kiss....love that little boy - such a great smile!!! And then I headed down to Adult Education...great book, great conversation, great group...then back to the building...did a few manager duties and then up to the "Rents" fun as always and boy did mom look great. Triple Arm Pump Day

WOWZA!

I tell ya, it's the shortest longest week ever. I had Monday and Tuesday off, back to work on Wednesday and today being Friday...I struggled to go to work. I've been lucky enough to have had each FRIDAY off in DECEMBER....it was like pulling teeth this morning. But I did it...GO...

Today has been a freakin' fantastic day. It all started off with a under 120 blood sugar reading when I woke up. It was 111 - it hasn't been that low in the AM for the last 3 months....in fact it has been pretty high averaging between 160-195 eeks...so today was a good day....and then it got better....

RICO kicked my butt this morning. WOW did he ever...just gotta love it - I felt like an athlete this morning. Broken down, muscles on fire, sweat pouring down...and elated. WOW....I did ask if he would cut my left arm off tho...but no luck...he said he didn't have the tools...lol...that RICO.

I left the studio and headed home, got ready for work, remembered my keys and grabbed my lunch and then it was time to GO...

Got to work...and it just kept getting better. Monti said to me...that I've been looking like a DIVA all week, all dressed up, make done, hair done and sass-ay! Gotta love that. I told her thank you and that I'd been working hard at it.

Got lots done, and then Heather came to visit for lunch...YEAH! Hi Heather!!! She showed me a few cards, and it was good to catch up....and then I took my blood sugar 2 hours after we ate, normally it's about 150 - well lookie here....114! SWEET!

Anyways - that's it for today. Here's to a great week, a even better weekend...

GO....SEAHAWKS!!!!
Just GO...

GO...GOAL....GO

Thursday, day 3 of the new year and my 3rd post of the year. Not too shabby, eh? I am attempting to refocus my blog as I refocus this year. Hopefully, the two will be accomplished.

I decided the other day that I should really try and do my picture a day again…and ACTUALLY finish it…so that is yet another goal I am going to try and do. I don’t know if I’ll post the pictures here….but I will at least take them, and down load them. My camera does a cool thing when printing so perhaps, I will be printing each week, and actually “scrap it” we will see, I don’t want to overwhelm myself with “stuff” but I do want to do more crafting and that will help with my words of the year…Achieve, peace and GO.

Last night I attempted NOT to be overwhelmed. I went shopping for a few things I needed and then I went home. I relaxed a bit, did my PT exercises, made dinner, cleaned up dinner and did my PT exercises again. Whew….then I did some crunches before bedtime. But I did do ONE thing…I found my new calendar that I bought a couple of weeks ago and did take it to work.

I have been having issues with my food journal and calendar and I hope that this new system will work. I really need to journal, I haven’t for a while and really needed to start again. And yes I have as of the 31st…and have been keeping it up each day….As it is important not only for me but for RICO. Part of my issue was I needed to have it handy, and to give it to RICO to review….the way I was doing it wasn’t working….so this new method, a 3 ring binder with my calendar and a spare 3 ring to put the completed and reviewed journal weeks in will hopefully work. I have placed the current weeks journal inside my calendar and at the start of the new week, I will give it to RICO to review and when he’s done, I’ll put it in the spare binder. That week is done, and over with…hopefully this will work, I really need it to.

I really need to get my schedule laid out a bit better…with my workouts with RICO 3x a week, my PT exercises 2x a day and with my 20-30min workout before bed 7x a week Its’ been a struggle to do it all…but I keep pushing forward as I don’t want to be pushing daisies. I know it will get easier and the routine will set in…but it’s day 3 and it sucks.

So today has been great day so far….I carpooled, work has been good, MEME and I are going to see the Bucket List next week, and I spoke with DIVA and will be staying at the Villa 2 times yes count it two times in the next 3 months. YEAH ME!

So here’s to making sure I do “just one thing” and not overwhelm myself, get my new evening routine in check and do what I have to do…and relax, be at peace and GO during my workout tomorrow am with RICO!!!!

What can you do with 400+ buttons?

SO this is what you can do....a little bit of time, okay a fair amount of time, 4 packages of assorted buttons, a stryofoam cone and 5 boxes of pearl head pins...and a few gold for a little bit of glitz! Who knew??? LOL...the most funniest thing about this project was the fact that my dad kept wanting to rearrange the buttons.....many times I had to tell him to put down the tree and step away.....

A relaunch - a fresh beginning

It's 2008 and wow has 2007 been quite a year. There has been good, bad, sadness, joy, rediscovery, and so many more things.

I do know that I am grateful. For so many things. I have come a long way on this journey of mine, and have a long way yet to go. I've got a great team of people now it's really up to me to continue to make it all count.

I am so thankful for all the wonderful people in my life. For all of the new babies, for those that have comitted themselves to each other I am grateful for you and so hopeful.

It's been a struggle the last 45 days, but I thinkI've got it under control, or at least managable. I know that I can't control any of it....I can just hold it at bay and continue to do what I do.

I have to keep on track with my workouts, with my food intake, my emotions, my medications, and my stress level. I have to remember to turn it over to God, and to be at peace. Those seem like such easy things to do, but at times, almost impossible.

So here's to 2008, where I plan to achieve and be at peace and to just rock it!!!

peace

The best day EVER!

WOWZA....Thursday - a day that will definately be remembered and talked about for a long long time.

It all started with the first BIG wind storm....and then the rain...and being stuck in traffic. I arrived at work and started working on reports. I called Wes to check in and see what he had planned. SO the plan was for him to do a bit of sightseeing, come to the office, get a tour, chit chat and then go to lunch at Applebee's then back to the airport.

I hooked him up with a few places to go to in Fremont...but because the weather was well hello I live in Seattle...and when storms are a brew - traffic suckz!!!! he skipped them and came straight to the office.

WHAT AN AMAZING GUY WES IS!!! I had such a great time just hanging out...and just talking about all sorts of things!!!

Later I headed to the airport to drop off my co-worker Reider (yes he's a dj) it was good to spend some out of the office time with Eric and thank goodness I took him to the airport, cuz if he would have driven he would have missed his flight....yeah carpool lane. On the way back, I got totally stuck in traffic jam so I decided to bail and head over to FT to see Jessica (HI JESSICA!!!!) and give her a drive by hug...it was soo good to see her, I miss working out with her around....I miss FT...but I Puffy Heart Rico and his studio...

Anyways back to the office I went and hung out for a bit and then it was time to see MeMe...yeah!!! We went to Applebee's....hummm this seems to be a trend today...we laughed and caught up and just had a great visit....then it was time....to head home.

So I offered up some goodies to the first person who identified the "Celebrity" who was going to visit me....and CINDY you WON....so shoot me an email with you snail mail addy and I'll drop some goodies into the mail to you.
I am posting a picture that I took of Wes at the studio on his camera (Wes I stole it from your blog) my camera is acting up and I can't get the photo I took off of it...ugh!!!!!!

peace...

EXCITING NEWS.....

Stay tuned for some exciting news.....Pictures are sure to follow.....

I got a VERY RANDOM phone call from a "Celebrity" you just got to LOVE RANDOM...and the irony of it all....you know when you say/comment to someone..."when you come to town, give me a call"...and 9 times out of 10 - no call....well, I must say that Scrapbookers RULE...because...a call was made.

In true radio fashion...I will be meeting this person for lunch using TRADE...cuz well heck it's free...and hook him (hint hint) up with some station SWAG!!!

The first person who can guess who's in the Seattle area and that I'm meeting for lunch tomorrow will win some goodies!

I must confess that when I heard "Is this dflygirl?"....for a fleeting moment I thought it was Brian...as he always does that when he flys into town unexpectedly...but THIS person...is just one of those people you want to get to know and JUST hang out with!!!

I'm excited for tomorrow!!!

peace out

Shout out to the DMB FAN in Issy!

A BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE DMB FANS (Dave Matthews Band). I was in Issaquah on Sunday at Safeway doing some shopping for DIVA and low and behold....what did I see??? This hummer - license plate DMB FAN....I tried to take a half way decent photo with my cell phone...but here's the proof....lol.

SUNDAY...wow...what a beautiful day. I got up and got ready for church...and then headed out. It was soooo foggy...church was awesome. Our assistant pastor Markus gave the sermon. I hadn't heard him preach yet....and I was totally moved. Amazing. I saw Ronda and Jared. Gave Jared his teachers guide....and then saw Carla and Dave. Dave and I chatted about our lunch next week...so that will be fun. I headed out to the car and it was beautiful. One the way to Issaquah, I got a call from a good friend 0kay Alex and he asked if I was free for a little lunch. Sure...why not??? LOL...so I met him at Roundtable for salad - then over to DIVA's to check in on her and to help out a bit. IT was a fun day and a great visit with not only Alex but DIVA and her friends Cady and Hailey....and of course the DIVA kitty!

Headed home and got ready for Monday.....

Post Scrappin Friendzy

WOW....

The week just flew by! I got everything prepared that need to be done before the big event. I got all my make-n-take card kits done. My page kits all finished. AND all the little details like decorating my table and such.

I had such an awesome week of workouts....my first week of 3 times a week - Mon, Wed and Fri! WOWZA - RICO YOU ROCK MY WORLD!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe that Saturday was FINALLY here. I had set a reasonable goal for sales but my overall goal was to have fun, meet new people and rock it when I taught my class. It was so hot as usual in the upstairs portion of the church. BUT I got there early and totally set up an hour before the first class.

Lots of people stopped by and did the make=n-take...and entered to win prizes..yeah prizes!!! The day just flew by. Pops called around 2pm and decided to come down and check it out...yeah....when he got there it was time for me to set up for class...I had Pops had out my class kits...it was too cute!!! I gave lots of stuff away with Scrappin trivia...lots of fun....and then the day came to an end.

I sent RICO a text and got one back, I headed to Lifeway to get the teachers guide for HFG and then finally home I went...WHAT A FREAKING FANTASTIC DAY!!!

Busy as a Bee...

As promised here are a few pictures of the goodies I have been preparing for Scrappin Friendzy. Stamped nail files and stamped and decorated bone folders....lots of work but they turned out great in my humble option! Anyways.....

WOW...where did the weekend go??? I had a freakin- fantastic appointment with Sally...and then meet a friend for a little dinner afterwards...fun fun fun. AND then it was time....

Back home I went and just kicked it to get ready for the busy busy weekend. I got up on Saturday, did a little grocery shopping, got gas, did laundry and then made a cake and got ready to head up to the "rents". Sweet Granny and my Auntie and Uncle were coming for a visit. We had such a great time. Lots of laughs and Pops and I made dinner. Okay well mostly me...lol....potatos au gratin, salad, brocolli and sauteed tomatos and garlic...and Pops BBQ SALMON...and we had a wee bit of wine...but no corkscrew...lol...we managed...Uncle McGiver...I mean Rick..lol. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the CAKE!!! Yeah! I headed home rather late and was tired.

Sunday I slept in...ugh I suck I should have gone to church...but didn't....got up and made a list of things I still needed for Scrappin Friendzy...I headed out to purchase paper and man o man was it raining!!! Headed over to DIVA'S and helped her out. Did some laundry, dishes, trash out and took care of the Diva Kitty...and made a wonderful fruit salad. Hung out and just chit chatted for a bit...and then it was time to hit the road.
peace out

What NO STAMPS?????

Tee hee. Lots been going on, can't really discuss it here but EVERYTHING is OKAY. I've been busy helping out the "rents" and "DIVA". I was asked to make some cards for Jeanies mom's 70th bday. Here's what I came up with. No stamps involved....what? Her party is going to be at a chinese restaurant...so I found some beautiful asian themed papers. I can't show you the inside as it has all the details of the party and well quite frankly, I don't want to scrub em out in photo editor...ha...so there! But the beige symbol paper continues on the inside and then printed on a very very cool textured red paper is the invite. AND YES, for those of you....who know me entirely too well. I did charge her, not only for the cost of the papers but a $1 a card...whew...now that's said.

I have been working on my giveaway goodies for scrappin friendzy, I'll finish them and take a picture of the freakin 100 pile stacks of nail files and bone folders....what was I thinking? They are coming out good I think...so there.

Anyways....back to the grind. I've had a slight cold this week, so I have NOT been working out, and I've missed RICO...dude....but I'm seeing Dr Sally today love our appointments and then my sweet sweet grandma is coming over yeah - there will be pictures for sure.

OMG - I can't believe I almost forgot it again...UGH I suck! MEME is back in town, and working...YEAH....we are gonna try and get together for a movie soon....it is soo good to have her back...I missed my movie buddy!!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Saturday....oh how I loved to sleep in. No deadlines loomin, no training today....no appoinetments, just relaxation. However, I did get up at 8am. I did a few things around the apartment and then I decided to make breakfast. Yummy. Coffee. I love my coffee maker. I really love my coffee maker.

After having a wonderful breakfast and getting ready, I took the package for Janice to the post office. Just going to the post office can be dicey. There was of course a line....come on now...it's Saturday there is always a line. And there are kids running a muck. I of course found it cute and amusing, however, their parents did not....

The crazy man kept trying to get me to use the Automated Postage Machine...and I was having NO part of it. He wouldn't leave me alone....he ended up grabbing my package and heading to the machine after I had told him, not once, not twice BUT THREE times I wanted to see the clerk. What the??? Anyways, I got my package back and finally made it to the counter. HA!

After the postal incident I decided to pay a visit to Fred Meyer...I love Fred Meyer...YOU can get almost anything there and it's a big store. When I got out of the hospital, I would drive down to Freddy's get a chart and walk the store...if I got tired, I could always stop in the Furniture section and sit. And when I go now, I always walk the store while shopping....I know that Char would find it hard that I actually "walk" a store and not just buzz in and out...lol...but I do...when I have time....it's more of an exercise thing than a shopping thing....lol...but I got good stuff for the week...and managed to getout for less than $35...wahoooo! Gotta love that!

I headed home, and hurked everything up the freakin' 4 flights and then started putting everything away. I made a yummy pork boneless loin steak...a bit of brown rice and a nice big salad and some brocolli....I watched all the shows that I had dvr'd and then drifted off....

Sunday came way too early. I got up, and started to wander around the apartment. I realized I had a bunch of laundry to do....so off I went to do that. Got things ready to go to the "rents" and then headed out. Had a good trip up to Everett....caught up with Mom and we just talked. I showed her all the goodies from my swap and from WAG...and we chatted about her surgery on Tuesday. I got things ready for dinner...and the pops changed my oil...YEAH! He bbq'd and then we had a really nice dinner.

After dinner, pops and I made a couple of cards - one for Paula the physical therapist that helped mom and on for sweet grandma's birthday. After all was said and done, eeks it was rather later....I headed home....

Finally made it home, and then hurked everything up the freakin' 4 flights of stairs...ugh....and then I started to get ready for Monday with RICO...Got my lunch all made, work out clothes set out, sneakers out...and what I was gonna wear to work...ready....then finally I drifted off...

The rest of the week in a nutshell...

Tuesday, Jean gave her notice. It was a typical day, lots of work....nothing too exciting.

Wednesday, I drove and it was RICO time. He called me at o dark fifteen, and I hit the road, he was waiting for me, we walked in, got a tour, and then we started ROCKIN! WOW, if I ever had any doubts about his new studio (which I never did) Wednesday when I walked in they would have been gone. What a fantastic workout. My abs are killing me still....lol...we worked out for 50 minutes...Friday will be longer...we'll ease into 60 minutes. I headed home and got ready for work.

I started to get a bit tired around 6-7pm. I went to Issaquah to pick up my meds at my favorite Target...yeah target...and then headed home.

Thursday....Sushi day. Brad picked me up and I showed him the "M" for Miho...and we had a good ride into work...we laughed it was fun....got busy at work and then it was time for SUSHI. Cindy, Taylor and I jumped into the Freestyle and headed out. We got there and NO ONE WAS there for almost 30 minutes...then they all started to wonder in...Miho was late to her own party...oh well. We had lots of yummy sushi and lots of laughs! Then it was time to head back. I finished the day and I made a couple of workout cds from my ipod for me and Rico...lol

Brad and I headed home I got a few things done...and then....it was time for bed...

Friday came a bit early...my abs still hurt - Rico called and I met him...we put in my cd and started the workout...it was awesome...my abs still hurt...lol....we worked out 60 minutes it rocked....I headed home and got ready for work....at work it was well sad, Jean was leaving, I gave her the "J" and helped her carry her stuff out to the car. I was a pretty sad sad day....and passed way to slowly...and then I got a page....from Jessica...>HI JESSICA!

I talked to Sally my nutritionist and we finally set an appointment...ugh it is so hard sometimes to get our schedules to match. It was good to catch up with her....

After 5 I headed down to FT to see Jessica...it was good ot catch up...and chatt....it seemed so weird to be there....but like ocming home. She said the coolest thing, and I have to tell RICO...she said out of all the people she knew, that Rico and I are the two she wants to (and who deserves to) succeed the most...and she's glad we have each other. II am too. I am glad I have RICO...I am very very lucky.

I headed home and stopped at Safeway and picked up a few things for dinner/breakfast...then I watched Preminition with Sandra Bullock....interesting movie....and then off to sleep I went.

MONDAY and RICO

WOW...I can't believe it's Monday already. Rico was on schedule and called me when he arrived into the city. I got dressed and was just getting ready to leave when he called again.

He could NOT get into his studio...the freakin code for the 6ft fence wasn't working....ugh. So we decided not to work out as there would be NO WAY POSSIBLE for me to climb that fence.

We chatted and I told him that Char has passed his picture okay she actually walked it around the room, showing each of the ladies his picture. I was telling him that they all thought he was HOT....alotta HOT!! LOL...It made him smile and not be so MAD about not being able to train me. I told him, at least it's me...and not one of your new clients...we got off the phone and I got ready for work, which I didn't want to do....vacation syndrome.

When I got to work, it was back into the grind...getting caught up after being gone for a couple of days...it was good to see everyone and I did a bit of show and tell...the day FINALLY ended...and then it was time to head home and then to fellowship.

It was good to see the gang, and the kids...we chatted and decided on a new book to study for this next year...we did a bit of scheduling and then I grabbed all the stuff to send to Janice and off we went.

J is for Jean

Oh my Jeanie...I am sad, she is leaving and taking a job at KCMS. I am happy for her...and sad for me. I will definately miss her. She and I have worked together for 10 years. When I started at KMPS/KZOK so long ago...before moving to KISS and then when I went to KLSY...she was at KWJZ...where I am now.
I made this altered J for her it has a little bling...well Jeanie loves bling...so hopfully she will put it in her new office, and think of me often.

M is for MIHO

I did a little crafting when I got home - This is what I made for Miho, her birthday is on Thursday and we are going out to I Sushi with the gang for lunch. She loves Hello Kitty or I like to think she does. These altered letters are so easy to do...and addictive. When I made T for Taylor, I came up with a list where everything started with "T". SO of course, I did the same for Miho.
SO here's the list: M is for Miho, Mushi Mushi, Mmmm Sushi, More Saki, and Meow....lol...I can't wait til Thursday!!!

Roadtrip Home

Heading home.....

After having a yummy bacon filled breakfast, Char and I headed to the Dollar Tree. At Stampin Cat Studio the owner had these cute vinyl bins that she put supplies in...and I thought to myself...HELLO...scrappin friendzy! So I knew I needed to stop and see if I could find 5 of the same color. Well, low and behold I did. I ended up purchasing 5 in a light yellow color and two in a darker green for me. I checked out and then headed out of town.

I had purposly planned on letting Heather get ahead of me on the road so that if she got tired, I would catch up with her and check on her. As I hit Vancouver, I stopped for gas. I saw my favorite tattoo shop...Dragonfly Tattoo. I'll post a picture later, it's on my work computer...ugh, I forgot to put it into the draft folder, oh well.

I chatted with Heather a couple of times....on the way home, I stopped at Chehalis at the Michael's and purchased some pearl white lumiere for the faux mother of pearl technique that Lori (Hi Lori!) showed me. I plan on using that as my next technique at the March Scrappin Friendzy, if I am asked back...(hopefully!). I ended up with two bottles, and then I purchased 2 12x12 scrapbook frames that were on sale for $4 ea. I thought it would be a great way to display my page at Scrappin Friendzy, and then I purchased this cool wrought iron holder to hold the frame...sweet...then I headed out towards Seattle.

IT was FOGGY AND RAINING and it SUCKED!!!

Heather called from Olympia where she had found her luggage tags and ball chain for her Women's Retreat...the rest of the trip home was uneventful...I got home and hurked everything (okay almost everything) up the 4 flights of stairs....and got ready for Monday as it would be RICO time!
